Chargers hire Brandon Staley as their head coach

Chargers will hire Brandon Staley as their next head coach. This is a huge development because they were leaning towards Bills OC Brian Daboll.

Brandon Staley, the former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator has been hired by the Los Angeles Chargers to replace Anthony Lynn as the head coach.

While the Chargers may have made a good move hiring a defensive coordinator who led the very top defense in the NFL in 2020, Staley is very new in the NFL which makes me very nervous.

Staley began his NFL career as an Outside Linebackers Coach for the Bears in 2017, and stayed there for the ‘17 and ‘18 season. Staley was the Outside Linebackers Coach for the Broncos in 2019, and the Rams DC this season.

Staley has not had nearly enough time to prove himself and this makes me worried, but it is very possible the Chargers made a good move here. Only time will tell.
